Went to my first hardcore gig in quite along time on Thursday (Blacklisted/Soul Control and friends) and I’m glad to say there is nothing like a bit of a vitriolic lyrical assault on your eardrums to get you going. Darren being as efficient as ever brought enough spare earplugs (he’s a drummer so he thinks about these things) for Dio and myself. So I think the absence of that painful reverberation that usually overpowers any recognition of things like, oh… you know, things like changes of chords and lyrics, lulled me into a false sense of security. I am making a note to bring earplugs to any other low key gigs I go to because they make the sound 10 times better.A fight broke out during the second set which was pretty funny.
